Absolutely amazed at the staff. Wonderful people.

The staff was simply among the most genuine, friendly and courteous on Earth. The outdo themselves very elegantly. Friendly and helpful without being intrusive or pushy. We speak almost no French and they do not speak English but communication never failed as they know their job well and the laws of common courtesy come natural to them. Very refreshing after a day in the city being harassed, followed and offered servises we did not need from the local spontaneously appearing "tour guides". People at the hotel are like from another world. Time of arranged events such as breakfast and dinner - spot on. Could not never believe a polite knock on door just minutes before the arranged time. Such punctuality is very unusual in this part of the world. Place spotless. The common areas which are also family areas are very clean and organised. Hot water available.

I would have probably appreciated a bit different approach to a bedding, with a bit more sheets in between the cover and yourself.

Good

Nice staff, old and traditional Riad, tasty breakfast, perfect location.

Toilet and the room is too small, a little bit noisy as it is next to the road and some cafe around. The steps is too narrow and deep.

Pleasant

The family is very nice and helpful! There were no bedsheets when we arrived, but the daughter provided some. Breakfast was simple but okay, the terrace has a pretty nice view- Its nice to enjoy breakfast there on the roof top terrace. Taxis are within 1 Minute walking distance, the location is quite good. If you want to experience a maroccan family life - this is the place to go.

The place is not comfortable to reach, you have to pass dark roads- not nice to go there as a woman in the evening. In the daytime it’s better.

Exceptional

We felt very much at home there. Family run and as far as I know only 2 rooms. We had the room right next to the terrace with beautiful views and were served breakfast there. It was really fun to look down at the bustling life going on below The family was generous and kind and were very accessible for anything we needed. Felt a sense of real life in morocco but 5 minutes from the Médina.

What a wonderful place to stay when your in Fès! The family is lovely and always helpful. I can’t speak French but we always found a way to communicate. The Tajine was really delicious and the breakfast in the morning as well. We felt really welcome and would book again when we’re coming back

An amazing experience!

A special place where we enjoyed our time quite a lot and where we were pleased with everything, Abou and his family were such lovely people that we almost felt like home. Our room was beautiful and very comfy, the bathroom was such a nice experience, the rest of the house was amazingly decoreted and the Wi-Fi reached every single corner. A mention of honour goes to the breakfast which was so good and everyday there was something delicious new to try, all of this while enjoying the view over the medina from the rooftop of the house. For sure we'll come back again!

What would you highlight about Dar Gharnati

The few issues I had were resolved promptly by the property owners.

So the location couldn’t be beat, right in the Medina but at the entrance and close to parking. The hosts were great and very helpful, I had an issue with the shower and that was resolved right away. Also their breakfasts that they made every morning and served on their terrace were awesome!

The bed was like 50 years old and the mattress was probably at least half that. You could tell that this was actually a family’s house and not just a place that was fully converted to tourism, which is good for those keen on having more of a real home experience. That being said, it was an old house with old quirks. Old plumbing, old staircases, old furniture, but it had charm and class.

Happy and very good energy people

The room was not big but clean and tidy, the toilet was clean, the people speaks English very well and they are very nice. The place is in perfect location. Recife square is less than 2 min walk and the popular market is less then 1 min walk. The breakfast was little bit poor but for the price we paid was ok.

Is little bit uncomfortable to carry the luggage upstairs but this is a Riad and there is nothing they can do to change it.

Home away from home

Feeling at home away from home The family is so welcoming and the breakfast is so good and delicious! The house is so particular and very clean! They have an amazing terrace Madame Suad was very helpful in many situation I totally recommend it

Really nice small Riad very close to the Medina and all famous buildings. The owner is very friendly and you get some really good food. We really felt welcome! Also they do have a nice roof terrace where you can enjoy the breakfast. I can definitely recommend it

Abhoubaker was incredibly helpful.

Abhoubaker was incredibly helpful. He spent over an hour helping us with a problem and making calls on his phone. He got us taxis for cheaper prices than we could get upon return.

What would you highlight about Dar Gharnati

Disappointing

Not sure how it's got an average of 8 for this place. It's in the Medina, about 25 minute taxi ride from the airport, we'd organised this prior to arrival to avoid being fleeced. We were met by our host where the taxi dropped us and 1 minute later we arrived at the Riad. Our host was very confused with the financial exchange after we calculated the amount due and expected change, we saved him from short changing himself by some 450 Dirhams. The rooms are sufficient, in the master room there's a King bed and two windows looking over the very popular local square. The second bedroom, whilst comfortable and ample in size including 2 single beds, it had open panels with fitted curtains for physical privacy but not effective for noise control. Especially as our host and family seemed to gather right under the room with TV, phone and Skype calls after 11pm. Not well pleasing. There is an outside terrace area which has magic views across the Medina with panoramic views across North to south. Breakfast was sufficient, mint tea, breads and pastries with olives and honey and a hard boiled egg for each guest. No coffee. There are some good eateries across from the riad - Snak Malak was good - a taxi rank so from that perspective it's an OK location, it's not excellent by any stretch of the imagination. Taxis are cheap, just remind them to reset their meter to zero, somehow they seem to forget. One driver tried to charge us a flat fee. From the Riad expect fares from 100 Dirhams to 200 for a taxi ride up to 15 minutes -.thats about £\€1 ... Cheap and cheerful. Saying this, however, none of the drivers seemed to k ow the area of our road when we asked and this lead to a couple of frustrating moments. If you've got short legs, bad back, impaired by any way this place is not for you as there are over a dozen steps to climb which are very large and very steep.

We were disappointed with the bathroom, they're true to say we had a private bathroom, but it is a very dangerous water closet where with 1m2 space is a toilet, sink, plug hole in floor and a shower head and mixer tap above said plug hole. Added to this is the hot water service and many a dangling wire and power points and light switches. We were provided with 2 towels for 3 people. The double bedroom had access to their 1m2 WC room through the bedroom, the master bedroom, however, had to walk the length of the road to access theirs. Private yes, convenient, no. Our host disappointed us as well offering us a deal of the season of a 3h walking tour of Fez for 400dirham for the 3 of us. We were told that we'd be given a list of points to select from and a tour would be organised for us from there. On the day, however, we ended up with guests from another riad, where they had been charged 55 Dirhams each... We paid the guide 55 Dirhams directly only to arrive back home and be asked for the 400 he had quoted us the day before ... Then the games started.

Noisy but central

Very close to the center although it could be very noisy by the nights. Very good price. Good breakfast. One guy if the stuff apraks English however communication was never a problem.

No toiletries. Only one towel for the room. Rooms are not cleaned daily. Only one working electrict outlet un the rooms.
